Hey all of you watchers, random readers and eager artists! After much internal deliberation for the past few months, I've decided to host a contest! With prizes and fun to go around! Prizes are fun and art is fun so a contest is the ultimate thing to do am I right!? ;D
I'm sure you're all eager to hear about the details and all, and after such a good feedback on my spur of the moment quiz, here's what I've come up with to help keep this contest running smoothly and enjoyable by all participants!
SHORT LIST OF DETAILS
* Deadline: December 14th 11:59pm Detroit, Michigan time!
* Theme: "Birthday Present for Mae"
* Number of Entries: UNLIMITED
* Prizes: Choose from items I can send you, commissions, subscriptions or equivalent cash prize!
ENTRIES
- Tomoya @ DA
PRIZES (updated 10-27-08)
- If I receive enough entries I'll be having a Grand Prize winner as well as a 1st-3rd place winners. If I don't get a lot of entries I will have to limit it down to the top 2 or something.
* GRAND PRIZE - You have the choice of a brand new yukata and obi estimated at $100 (pictures at bottom)! And only the grand prize can have that option! How cool is that!! If you don't want the yukata then you get first grabs at a handful of the items I listed at the bottom. You also have the option of a year subscription to DA along with the prizes. You also get your choice of commission from me!
* 1st PLACE - You may not have gotten the Grand Prize but you still get kudo points! You can have a year DA subscription with 2nd selection of the prizes at the bottom (excluding the yukata). You also get a full CG commission from me!
* 2nd PLACE - You get next grabs of prizes, a 6 month DA subscription, and a simple CG commission from me!
* 3rd PLACE - You get final grabs of prizes, a 3 month DA subscription, and a lineart commission from me!
- If for any reason, the winner is unsatisfied with their prize selection they will be able to speak with me about coming up with something else equal to the prize they would have received. Please don't let the prizes stop you from enjoying yourself

- Winner's will have the ability to choose their style of commission within a reasonable degree of my abilities (ie: no 40+ person groups LOL)
RULES
* The theme is "birthday present for Mae" which you can interpret any way you want! You can draw Mae, your OCs wishing Mae well, a smexy pinup of my male OCs for Mae, a wonderland or whatever you interpret the theme means to you! I don't want to limit you but I do want to keep the art geared toward the contest~
* Contest starts today and runs until December 14th 11:59pm Detroit, Michigan time! Don't know Detroit time? Check it out here! Winners will be announced on the 15th of December if everything goes well. There may or may not be an extension for the deadline, it'll mostly depend on what the majority of participants are saying.
* Artwork must be created by you alone. If you want to do a collab with a friend, I'd to be asked and have verification that all those involved know about it. You can't have a friend draw a picture that you just color and submit without them getting proper credit and prizes. They may not even want to have anything to do with the contest. No old pictures, they must be new for the contest please~ Its only fair after all. And the picture DOES NOT have to have any of my OCs in it. Though I can't say no to it if you want to~ *w*
* There is no limit to entries! But just because you drew 23 pictures doesn't mean you'll win though. Its on quality and heart, not quantity after all.
* All art will be judged fairly. Judging will be based on each picture's individual concept, use of theme and artistic style! Don't be discouraged if you think you're not an excellent artist! As long as I can see the effort you put into, that's the best I could ask for! Art doesn't have to be colored or even super refined, even the simplest of pictures can hit me deeply~
* PRIZES: Ohoho~ Prizes. Can't have a contest without prizes! I had a hard time deciding what would be fun for prizes, so here's what I came up with. I'LL LET YOU DECIDE! Yes that's right! You'll pick your own prize if you win! I have a lot of things from Japan that I bought to give as gifts but they have yet to find a home D; You can find the pictures of some of the many things I'm offering at the bottom of the journal! I'm also going to offer subscriptions, commissions and possible money prizes (equivalent to subscriptions/commissions) if people would prefer that instead! I will continue to add pictures of prizes as the days go by since I still have things I forgot to take pictures of and have to find. XD;;; Too many prizes lol~ If you want me to send you something then you will have to send me your address if I select you as a winnner. NOT BEFORE. Just so you know...
* How to enter: If you want to enter just draw an entry! You can upload and enter your picture whenever you like! But remember the deadline is December 14th 11:59pm Detroit, Michigan time! Don't know Detroit time? Check it out here!
* Winners: The final tabulation of winners will depend more on how many entries are submitted. If I get a small selection there might just be an overall winner and runner up, but if I get a lot of entries I might have to do a whole list of top 5, or even more! So don't get worried~ Who knows, I may not be able to decide a winner and I'll just have to give everyone a prize in the end... MAYBE~ :>
Someone was kind enough to point out that I totally forgot to list references/links to my OCs for them to draw. (thank you tarahm!)... Its sad when I fail at my own contest ROFL. That and I didn't wanna make it required to draw my OCs, because its not, but for those of you who do here are some links~
* OC Biographies (faves are Mae, Kiyoshi, Jun and Kankan)
* Favorites: Gift art done of my OCs...
* Favorites: Commissions done of my OCs...
* Photobucket gallery of other commissions/gifts...
* You can also find heap loads of my own drawings of them in my gallery |D;;
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask! I want this contest to be fun and exciting for both sides! I feel horrible asking for presents but at the same time I also like to give out presents as well! So I figured this might be a win-win situation for people in the end XD;;

PRIZES (updated 11-10-08)
Sorry for the crap photos, I took them with my Japanese cellphone that I use as a digital camera now~ XD;;;;

* Cardcaptor Sakura : Limited Edition Dreamcast game box set!
* Never used, all items are still in original packaging, took out just to photograph. Bought it at a CD shop in Minami-Hikone, Japan where I lived. Thought it would make a good investment LOL The game is in Japanese and I think you need a Japanese Dreamcast system to play it. Although the interior items are nice~
* Clock with stand, ceramic plate, Tomoyo and Sakura metal fork and spoon, body-pillow pillowcase, Dreamcast game and art box included...

* Cardcaptor Sakura : Limited Edition Series 2 Figure
* One of my favorite CCS outfits~ The cute little pink and black cat outfit from the Thunder card (lol CCS fangirl lol) Bought this from a figure shop in Akihabara district of Tokyo when I went there for a long weekend while living in Japan...

* First photo has 3 large Fruits Basket wallscrolls (fabric on plastic rods) and in the middle is a hard plastic Fruits Basket poster like thingy. I'm not really sure what it is but I have it and never used any of these (they're all still in brand new condition). I bought them at ACen 2005 LOL
* Second photo Fruit Basket plushies of Shigure/dog, Kyou/cat, Yuki/rat and Momiji/rabbit. And a Fruit Basket double sided pillow. None of these have been used. Such a waste, but I'm a Furuba fanatic OTL;;; There's also a Chobits Chii and the adorable pink critter from the Chobits picture book. Forgot its name. And that's the Clow Card book and all 52 (?) cards from the beginning of the series (ie: NOT the Sakura Cards), they're made out of thick plastic and don't bend easily. Great for cosplay, this was also released in America...

* First photo has shirts I bought but none of my family wanted. They've been sitting in a bag waiting to be used. I showed off the 2 Snoopy shirts (aren't they adorable with his name written out like that~ lol), a small stack of other shirts that weren't nearly as cool to show off lol, a kimono purse and a noren (fabric doorway dividier) that's a nice deep blue and white pattern. All of these were bought in Japan...
* Second photo has a Fruits Basket English calendar. Large photos you can use for posters if you wanted. That's why I get calendars with pictures I like~ I don't ever use them as a calendar LOL Also some Tohru and Kyou character laminated cards at the bottom corner. Double deck Happy Bunny cards (got in the US). A floral pattern noren and Qoo cup and topper~ OMG I love Qoo so much! ;_; I miss it horribly. I have so much Qoo stuff you'd think I worked for the company haha! The cup has never been used either. I think I got the cup from when I went to a movie theater in Minami-Hikone LOL xD;; Pink deer antler headband. I got it from Todaiji Temple when we went on a field trip. Never actually wore it though.
* Last bit of the 2nd photo is SAIYUKI stuff! Three pencil boards I got from ACen '05, the bottom anime picture one is actually signed on the back by the English voiceactor for Goku, Greg Ayres to me. I'll probably keep that unless someone really wants it. That's actually Greg Ayres favorite picture too he said as he signed it. So that made him happy lol~ There's also a set of clear-plastic Saiyuki bookmarks there, a Saiyuki deck of card and a laminated Goku character card...

* First photo has a portion of my manga phonebook collection from when I was in Japan for 8 months. It contains Ribon, Nakayoshi and HanaYume with manga series such as Fruits Basket, Shugo Chara and many many others~ I set them up so you could see which volumes I had in that box at least
* Second photo has 4 thick little notepads~ The bottom one is my favorite because the girl's name is "Mai"! These are all new and never used!
* LARGE noren from... Oh God, what was the name of that temple again? GAH. I can't think of it and I'm horribly stupid right now (exhausted) so I'll fix this when I remember. Or if someone can read it then go ahead haha This is probably my favorite noren, I did use it a little in my apartment on my bedroom door but its still in excellent condition...

* First photo has 2 pictures from my large Koge Donbo calendar I bought from Gamers in Akihabara district of Tokyo! They've been folded in half to hold the calendar part, because I like the picture's so much to use them as posters~ I have the rest of the calendar pictures somewhere hiding with some of my other calendars I bought while there (like my Arina Tanemura one). There's then two insert posters of DiGiCharat (with Galaxy Angel II on the back) and then a manga phonebook pullout title page from Shinshi Doumei Cross (Gentlemen's Alliance Cross).
* Second photo consist of 6 posters that are Japanese theme. Four of theme towards the right side are reproductions of traditional Japanese print. I had these in my dorm and my old house but they're all excellent condition since I use that non-damaging sticky stuff.
* Third photo is a large double-month Geisha calendar. Our University in Japan received a bunch of these for us to have. These are really nice and thought someone might enjoy them as well since its not something you can readily find anywhere I think?

* First photo is a photo of everything and the 2nd is a zoom in photo of the Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle anime cellphone charms. I have Kurogane, Fai and a half-heart Sakura one. The Sayoran one is on my cellphone :>
* Bottom two photos are half-shots of the first top one. Generally a lot of Qoo stuff like card holders, small bags, keychains, and washcloths. And then there's a load of freebies I got with my manga phonebooks I bought. The left photo shows a majority of the stationary booklets for series like S.A. with a small pencil board too and lots of little trinket thingys. Wasn't sure if anyone saw a series they liked that's not as nearly as common to find?
* There's also a DiGiCharat deck of cards that I got with a book I bought from Gamers in Akihabara district of Tokyo. And the cards are cute and never-used. Each card either has a short comic in Japanese on it or a character illustration. I LOVE KOGE DONBO...

* First photograph is of a brand new yukata I bought in Osaka before returning home from my study abroad. Originally I got it for my sister but she doesn't like those kinds of things : Figured it would be cute if we all had similar ones but I guess not... Comes with a reversible brand new obi as well. Since these were so expensive (still have the price tags on them totally around $100) these will only be available as the GRAND PRIZE, sorry.
* The second photo has 3 kimonos I bought at a flea market in Shin-Osaka (for those of you who don't know, kimono's are heavier more formal wear and the yukata is generally cotton for festivals and summer). Since these were bought in a flea-market they're used and may, or may not, have stains on them. These are also not full-length sleeves that reach the ground, they're only the shorter sleeves generally used by married women. But they're still cool/fun! XD My favorite is the pink/brownish plaid one ;D
* The third photo has another kimono at the top in a beautiful white and gold/silver pattern~ Another one of my favorites. The bottom 2 on the left are actually short coats worn over your kimono, and to the right are 2 obis. That small folded red fabric above the obis was a special "service" from the lady I bought these from. I figure its more for layering under an obi for extra pizazz ROFL If not, its still a cute dark red pattern (note: its not an obi)...

* I have an Ed from FullMetal Alchemist UFO catcher (ie: plushie) and a Sanji from One Piece (beach attire holding watermelon and stick) UFO catcher as well...

* A bunch of brand new keychains and cellphone charms I never used/gave (none of my family wanted one, how sad is that) from places all over Japan. I numbered them so I could better describe them...
1) Miyajima Island just offshore from Hiroshima, 2) I think its the Hikone Castle one but I'm not positive all I know is it has Ii Naomasa's family crest on the back and I believe its his red armour that resides in the Hikone castle museum, 3-4) Lake Biwa keychains with labels of the larger cities around the lake and major attractions, 5-8) Todaiji Temple, 9) Osaka Castle, 10-12) Hiroshima's Peace Memorial Museum...
13) Disney's Cinderella cellphone charm bought from a small dollar store in Japan LONG STORY, 14-15) Pockey light-up cellphone charms, 16) Haado Gei aka Hard Gay talking cellphone charm I got on my to the return Shinkanzen from Tokyo, 17) Sakura cellphone charm from Todaiji Temple, 18) cute little "Year of the Dog" cellphone charm, 19) Morimo cellphone charm my friend got for me from Hokkaido, 20) "No Farting" keychain from Todaiji Temple ROFLLLLLLL, 21) small omamori from Todaiji for "overall protection" I think, 22) omamori from Miyajima Island's Itsukushima Temple, 23) "First Year Driver" cellphone charm, 24) toilet cellphone charm, 25) emergency exit cellphone charm, 26) traditional archery cellphone charm...
PRIZES WITHOUT PHOTOS:
* There's also a box somewhere with little anime figurines, I even have manga in both English and Japanese as well as artbooks if people wanted prizes like that instead? I had too many to photograph right now though. GAH, you guys might have more problems picking your prize than doing the entry! XDDDDD
Either way, if you guys have any questions or comments just ask! More details will be ironed-out over the next few days or so. If you have a specific request for possible prizes instead feel free to tell me your thoughts!
Maybe I should narrow down all this junk to like the good stuff. What prizes did I list really sound good? You guys are the ones who have to choose after all! ;D
